Milestones

Independent – Entreprenurial – Self-Supported
We are developing Strive as a community venue for an array of culturally-
enriching events that concurrently serve the following purposes:
- Culturally-enriching events for the community around Strive.
- Students aged 14-18 will apprentice the entire job-gaining experience including: job research & resume writing; professional attire and effective presentation; and interviewing skills. They will then organize, host, cater, serve and manage these events at Strive.
- Students who successfully complete the 6-week program will earn a $120.00 dividend. Students will also have the opportunity to collect earnings from events produced at Strive. A portion of their earnings will be matched by one of our donors, but vested only when they reach pre-determined academic goals.
- Through this program, our students will internalize the value in motivated self-interest, a focused work ethic, deferred gratification, and long-term personal & financial planning. One of our bank donors will provide financial literacy courses to help them habituate thrift, savings and financial planning into their lives.
- MileStones will also provide in-house revenue for Strive, which will be used to fund our own programs.
- Upon completion of the 6-week program, graduates will host the following community events.
- 1st quarter: Hosted event for local Police & Firemen
2nd quarter: Hosted event for local school Principals & Teachers
3rd quarter: Hosted event for Strive Board members & donors.
4th quarter: Hosted event for retired residents & elder care tenants.
